A note on the 48V name. These packs run at 52.2V nominal, which is exactly what a 48V system wants — the same way a “12V” lead-acid battery actually sits at 12.6V. We label them 48V because that is the system they are built to run, and calling them 52V has only ever caused people to wonder whether they fit.
The difference is where the energy is kept.
A lithium battery stores energy by driving a chemical reaction, and that reaction is what wears it out. Every cycle moves material that does not move back perfectly, which is why capacity fades and why a battery has a cycle count at all.
SETI Power Packs use graphene-infused EDLC supercapacitor cells. Charge is held electrostatically on the surface of the graphene — no material migration, nothing consumed. There is no lithium, cobalt or phosphate anywhere in the pack, and no mechanism for thermal runaway.

A solar array is warranted for twenty-five years. Lithium storage attached to it is typically finished in five to eight. That means buying the storage three or four times over the life of the array — and sizing it twice, once for what it does today and once for what it will have faded to by year six.
No degradation curve to design around. The capacity you specify on day one is the capacity you still have when the array is halfway through its warranty.
Charge is accepted as fast as the array can deliver it, so a burst of midday generation goes into storage instead of being clipped.

Charge between rounds, not overnight.
A lead-acid fleet is a schedule: eight hours on charge, a watering round every few weeks, and a full replacement every three or four seasons that lands in the capital budget whether the season was good or not. A pack that refills in the time it takes to turn a group around changes how many rounds the fleet can sell in a day, and takes the replacement line out of the budget entirely.
